The Rhythm of Emergence

Creativity can’t be scheduled. This premise challenges how I live my life.

It’s easy to arrange time to work on myself and to meditate.  However, I’ve discovered that creative writing resists structure and neat boundaries.  Emerging spontaneously, it is essentially inspiration, unfolding from my inner rhythms.  Accepting its unpredictable nature has transformed my approach to blogging.  It's also changing how I perceive difficult or painful situations because, at their core, they’re also about surrender.  And about relinquishing the need for certainty and control.

Even though writing involves focused intention, the process is a complex interplay of thoughts, emotions and experiences that arise from within.  Like surrender, it can’t be done on demand.  Rather, it is the evolution of remembering…forgetting, and re-membering again. Blogging, like surrender, asks for flexibility in following its lead--the antithesis of exerting control over.   And, like surrender, it involves giving my mind space to wander, connect disparate thoughts, and listen to my story’s own timing.

These days, I’m inviting curiosity and allowing myself to notice what appears, as I let go, moment by moment.
